An energy monitoring project realised in two school buildings. Students discover how much energy the school, the classroom and computers are consuming. The aim is to teach users to be aware of consumption and to have a positive impact on the social context outside the limits of the school.
The system is able to detect the energy consumption of school buildings and transform it into visible and analysable data in real time. The energy consumption data becomes intelligible through the Dog 2 gateway, developed by the Polytechnic of Turin, which is able to collect information even when it comes from different technologies. The Living Lab is an innovative methodology used to improve prototype proposals, through the sharing of ideas and collaboration among students, institutions, research centers and companies. The aim is to encourage the active participation of the users, who know practical-operative needs which can be unknown to the system developer.
